Ayutthaya for a day.

This evening was just another normal, casual evening. However there was someone in the lobby who was always talking to me, getting me away from this state of boredom I was in. Yuri and I were having a conversation about where we should go tomorrow and I advised him to go to Ayuthaya. I haven’t been before by myself, only with my high school tour when I was around 15 years old. Ayuthaya is a nice place to explore if you like to see old temples and it is conveniently close to Bangkok. There are so many temples in Ayuthaya and they’re pretty close to each other. All the while we are making plans for Ayuthaya, a guy named Wessel just arrived at the hostel and decided to join Yuri’s plan for tomorrow. So tomorrow’s plan was to wake up at 7:30 am, be ready at 8 am and afterwards make our way to the train station. We planned to take the train at 8:30 am and therefore arrive at Ayuthaya around 11:30 am. I actually wasn’t planning to go to Ayuthaya but Wessel invited me to join him and Yuri and well, I just didn’t understand why I said “YES SURE” as I have a German class in the morning tomorrow! Maybe it was just the fact that I needed to go out sometimes because I’ve been studying and working for a long time now and didn’t get a chance to see the world.

It was very early in the morning, I woke up as my alarm clock was screaming “WAKE UP BITCH YOU’RE LATE” out loud. I got up and went to my friends room and say “Yo mate Are you ready to roll ? “ .Surprisingly Yuri was ready but Wessel was still sleeping, and now I knew that only 2 of us were still going because Wessel was sick and dying in bed. After waking the guys up I realized that I was now the one who was late and that I should quickly run to shower!! After a nice shower and having packed my camera, the map, water and some stuff in my backpack, I went down to the lobby in order to have a small breakfast. Yuri was already waiting for me and chatting with the owner of the Cubic Bangkok Hostel.

Yesterday we searched the cheapest way to go to the train station and taxi turned out to be our best choice. We took the taxi in front of the hostel which costs around 60 baht to get to the train station. We ran straight to buy the tickets and it surprised us because it only costs 20 baht per person! Yes... we love cheap shit ;) We were then walking to the railway to take the train and luckily we don't have to wait at all because we arrived at the exact departure time. We were sitting in the shittiest train ever! Because it was only 20 baht, the seats were too fucking hard to sit and my ass was painful all the way it goes.

YES HERE WE ARE IN AYUTHAYA ! We get off of the train and go went straight to rent a motorcycle. We were actually going to rent the bicycle but I didn’t think that was a good idea at all so I recommended Yuri to rent a motorcycle. At first Yuri didn’t trust me at all for me to be riding the motorcycle and him being the passenger, but well I’m Thai and the most of Thai people can ride the motorcycles. It’s like our thing, isn't it ? Anyways, I apologize for my stupid face in this photo.

We went to the most famous temple that everyone must see which is called Wat Mahathat (วัดมหาธาตุ) Wat Mahathat is located at the East of Wat Phra Si Sanphet. There is a distinctive thing which is named “the head of the Buddha” image which is over a hundred years in the root. The sandstone Buddha only kept the head but the body is disappeared. The head of the Buddha is Ayutthaya art, located in the Pho root of the temple. It is believed that the Buddha’s head fell to the base of the tree until the roots covered it up to make it beautiful and it therefore became a miracle. This temple came to be very famous and well-known to both Thai people and foreigners.

The second temple that I’d like to recommend you go is “Wat Phra Sri Sanphet” (วัดพระศรีสรรเพชญ์). This temple has an impressive square and massive buildings. Even if you plan to stay all day there, I don’t think you could see them all!

To be honest I didn’t have a clue regarding what this temple or others had to offer. I’ve been looking on internet and I didn’t really get anything. What if I share the links with you guys? I know I should try harder to do all this stuff by myself but the temples carry a lot of history.

I really don’t want to just copy everything from other webpages into my own because that doesn’t seem cool at all and well it would be a shame wouldn’t it?

WAT YAI CHAI MONGKHON (วัดใหญ่ชัยมงคล)

We went all the way to Wat Yai chai mongkhon. We were exhausted and all we did there was just sitting under a massive tree and watching a japanese tourist group tour. We were taking a rest for a bit then I finally stood up and went to the temple building. It's a very tall one, therefore we had to walk all the way up. However when we arrived it was absolutely worth it.. the view was just so stunning. Afterwards, we decided to go back but i was so thirsty so we went down in order to find something to drink. We went down to the pond and I just accidentally saw some people who were feeding the turtles which was so interesting. I've never done that before, so we decided to buy some bananas and feed the turtles: it was hilarious!

WAT RACHA BURANA (วัดราชบูรณะ)

At around 3.30pm, after we had visited all the temples, we took the motorcycle back to the motorcycle rental store. We then went to the train station and bought the 20 baht train tickets. We had to wait for the train so we decided to buy some drinks while we waited. It was very hot on the train, and although the heat was unbearable, we managed to get to where we needed to go. When we finally arrived at HuaLampong station in Bangkok we were very tired, and the traffic in Bangkok at this time is insane. We decided to take a tuk tuk because Yuri had never been in one. When we found a tuk tuk, the driver’s first price was too high, and we had to bargain the price down until he accepted a more reasonable price. The tuk tuk was pink! It really is a lot of fun taking tuk tuk to get around in Thailand. When we got to the hostel Yuri went to shower. Even although I still had to work until 10pm....

The day ended so beautiful, we had a lot of fun! Thank you everyone for making it done nicely. I couldn't ask for a better day!
